Los Angeles, CA Website Design Los Angeles Web Design & Development Service

landing page design services

As I said above, if your goal is to validate a new business idea or create buzz for your new product or service, coming soon landing pages are your best bet. The grocery list app AnyList doesn’t overcomplicate things and instead follows the traditional app landing page design very well. Here’s an actual product landing page template our designers came up with that you can tinker with and customize to your liking. Created for businesses, Los Angeles Website Design helps you get the most out of your site with search engine optimization.

Digital Marketing

Plus, Leadpages integrates with Zapier, so you can do things like automatically reply to anyone who fills in a form or add them to your email marketing tool. Learn more about how to automate Leadpages, or get started with one of these pre-made workflows. Then, with a Pro plan, you can add a checkout form to your landing page. Add a Stripe account to process the payments, then drag the Checkout box from the Widgets sidebar to add a payment form to your page. Want a launch page where people can learn about and buy your product in one place?

Your performance

Partnering with WebFX (and our award-winning team of in-house landing page designers) offers your company a competitive edge. A good website must incorporate critical functionalities and features that only add up the value for your website. It must have answers to users’ questions, resolve issues, and guide them on a journey. For that reason, web design Los Angeles companies create websites that are customer-centric and offer engaging services.

Don’t even think about building landing page in-house

An effective landing page does not only draw the attention of your audience, but it can also allow you to establish a connection and a contact with them. That can be done with a simple form that asks them for their contact details. Development of website elements in a user-friendly manner taking into account UI requirements to maximize landing page conversions.

When choosing a web design company, organizations should take into account the experience and approach that the company applies to web projects. Perhaps the biggest challenge during the design of the landing is creating an intuitive interface that is equally well adapted to different devices. Still, it opens up a wide range of opportunities to engage your target audience and build a strong positive image. It means that your product will become a regular visitor or future customer. And here, it is probably worth saying that it is better to come up with a definitive and understandable solution than a trendy one that is entirely incomprehensible to the user. One of the best things about choosing LYFE Marketing is that we offer full digital marketing services.

Our team conducts in-depth competitor research to identify industry trends, best practices, and potential areas for improvement. This analysis helps us create a strategy that sets your landing page designs apart from the competition. With a custom landing page design, you could set up a page that’s all about your dog walking service. When a potential customer clicks on your ad, you can direct them to this specialized page instead of your homepage. They’re immediately met with information, pricing, and so on relating to your dog walking service, and they’ll be that much more likely to continue with the purchase. Without a landing page, potential customers who clicked on the ad looking for more information about your dog walking service will end up on your homepage.

Noomo Agency

These allow you to save a section—like a headline, about box, or CTA—and use it in multiple different landing page designs. Best of all, if you update it in the Smart Sections tab, it will be updated on all your landing pages. This makes Landingi a great option if you have a small business and want to create a few landing pages to target different customers.

What should a landing page builder include?

landing page design services

Successful and functional websites require a continuous and ongoing maintenance process with core enhancements to the backend system. That is largely due to the efforts made to ensure an exceptional user experience. To ensure a high-performing website, choose a partner who is willing to invest in a long-term relationship and who will remain available after launch. This is mostly done to ensure the platform remains completely functional and modern with the most recent industry trends. The web design Los Angeles company that you will eventually select should have a straightforward action plan for achieving your business goals and future product visions.

Before launching your landing pages, our team conducts thorough quality assurance (QA) testing to identify and fix any potential issues. This includes testing for functionality, performance, responsiveness, and cross-browser compatibility. Driving users to a landing page is one thing, but getting them to convert is an entirely different situation.

The Smart Builder, on the other hand, asks you what you intend to use the page for, then automatically creates a layout based on your answers. You can then tweak things, adding extra sections and apps or removing its suggested one as you like. It's actually a pretty nice builder to use—and even made our list of the best AI website builders. I'd skip the Classic Builder and go straight to the Smart Builder, even if there's more risk you might run into a bug or two. With one of these landing page builders, you can do it in a matter of hours. My four landing pages took no more than an evening each to put together.

Clients trust us to create those strategies for them because we provide data-driven results. Get a preview into our 93% client satisfaction rate and why 91% of our clients continue to partner with our Los Angeles web design agency after one year. The team was easy to work with; they communicated on Slack and provided updates on the progress every day.

Get inspired and take a look at some landing page examples where the design is cohesive and matches the brand’s visual identification. See some fully-customizable landing page templates designed with consistency as well as conversion focus in mind. This is a critical step in the web design development process since it is here where your design will start winning over your potential clients. For companies that don’t have experience in your industry, don’t count them out yet! If they have experience with multiple industries, you can feel confident they take time to get to know new sectors and build campaigns that help clients succeed with their landing page design. To succeed with pay-per-click (PPC) advertising, you need a custom landing page to help you boost lead quality and increase sales for your business.

By including trust signals on your page, you’ll help affirm the belief that your business is the best option. If you want to create an effective landing page, you must add a visual element. It will keep your page interesting and engaging for your audience.

For example, the Discover Design platform which challenges students and teachers with “real-world design challenges” defines a simple six-step process that can be followed for any project. They can influence the level of confidence in your brand, depending on the user’s feelings he gets after browsing your website. And also determine whether they should continue to engage with it or not. After successful and solid prototype finalization, a web design Los Angeles partner will begin building your website with a backend programming language. This phase is considered the most time-consuming one among all other steps of the website design process. It can take several weeks to complete and present a fully functional website.

While I really liked ConvertKit's themes and builder, it's worth noting that many of them are pretty restrictive. You can't just add content into the sidebar or rearrange how images appear. It's great if you're prepared to work within the limits of ConvertKit's excellent themes, but if you have a specific vision for your site, it may fall short of your needs. If you want to use a landing page to launch an email newsletter, ConvertKit is your best option.

60 Halloween Nail Art Designs to Try in 2024

halloween nail design ideas

If hand lettering isn’t your thing, try some stickers or stencils instead. Gothic Detailing Tips will add a final touch, making your nails a true standout. Metallic textures bring an exotic edge, while 3D designs give depth and drama. Dual tone snakes, embodying the duality of serpent mythology, are a trendy choice. The artistic skill required to capture the essence of tarot history in nail art enhances its Halloween relevance. Finally, we’ll incorporate cryptic crows, their dark silhouettes adding an ominous touch.

Dusty Black & Gold Nails to Seduce the Spirits

Those who don't plan on straying from neutral colors this season will love this look, where a single milky white nail gets a blood drip. Movies give us endless beauty inspiration (think Barbie nails), so why not channel your favorite scary flicks with inspired nail art? This look features the classic Ghostbusters insignia and Slimer on the one hand, while the other shows the outline and eye of the titular Candyman character.

Spooky Ghosts

Keep it simple with these constellation nails painted against a black sky—how Halloween-appropriate. Personalize it by tracing your own astrological constellation as an accent nail. This Gucci-inspired snake manicure by Hang Nguyen is almost too good. We can't stop staring at the shiny translucent lacquered base, the glinting red ribbon of the spooky snake's body, or the itty-bitty split tongue. This manicure blends together the spooky design with classic French tips. It may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think Halloween (unless you're a Hocus Pocus fanatic), but these black flame nails give off a scary vibe.

Pumpkin Patch

Pay homage to all the treats with an easy candy-inspired nail design this Halloween. Just paint each nail a different candy-colored shade in a shimmery or glossy finish. There’s something especially creepy about balloons on Halloween, and this sunset silhouette scene gives us the heebie jeebies — but in a good way. To really excel at this nail look, you’ll need to work a yellow and red gradient and then paint in birds, trees, and characters using black polish and a brush. If you’re not vibing with pulling up to your work on a dull Monday morning bearing razor-sharp stiletto nails, consider going for a subtler festive look.

Just take motifs from an iconic Halloween movie like The Nightmare Before Christmas and paint them in white over a basic black manicure. Instead, layer the brightest yellow you’ve got over a base coat, and top your nails off with a chunky gold glitter. Take candy corn up a notch with this fantastical evening nail look.

While candy corn is a polarizing Halloween-time treat, there’s no arguing that the combination of white, yellow, and orange makes an adorable manicure. A slant on the French tip manicure, this orange tip set is easy to achieve and lets you add your favorite Halloween symbols. Combine them with a smattering of other Halloweeny things — stars, pumpkins, ghosts, moons and bats — for a fun nail set. This look really captures the spookiest night of the year and the whole Halloween season for me.

Stepping away from the mystical enchantment of the Dark Forest Nails, we’re now venturing into the eerie realm of the Sinister Skull Design. Imagine magical moonlight filtering through the treetops, casting mystic creatures and shadowy figures onto your fingertips. They’re a breathtaking blend of forest illusions and dark aesthetics, a perfect canvas for Halloween. Embrace the magic of Halloween with our trend-aware, detailed, and creative nail options.

And with the addition of a sweet ghost peek-a-booing over a French tip accent nail, the look becomes even more festive. These free-flowing, drippy French tips in the classic Halloween shades of black, white, and orange are just adorable. The shiny stars and teeny spiders serve not-so-scary, yet still festive vibes. Fake blood is to Halloween what fireworks are to the Fourth of July. This dripping manicure is the perfect amount of kitschy and classic. To DIY, use a toothpick with a hefty drop of polish on the end.

You don’t necessarily have to get this look, but it’s a great example of how matte black works with literally anything. Whether you prefer short and chic, simple and stylish, or gel and acrylic durability, these spooky cute ideas are here to ignite your creativity. This year, negative space designs are stealing the spotlight, allowing you to incorporate a touch of eerie elegance without going overboard. From short and sassy to gel and acrylic nails, these ideas are easy, cute, and STUNNING. These stunning designs will make anyone want to howl at the moon — each nail showcases a different moon cycle, from crescent to full.

Still keeping with the '80s but with a more subtle finish, this negative space mani with delicate pops of color is the ultimate inspiration. Light orange, plaid-like grids combined with black French tips are a ghoulishly good combo. Add adorable hand-painted ghosts and the design gets even better. These candy corn nails are a tasteful take on All Hallows' Eve and only require a couple of shades of orange polish and a steady hand to replicate.

While the thought of a spider crawling on your skin might be your worst nightmare, sporting the creature on your nails is just spooky enough. Use the dotting tool to create the body of the spider and a thin brush to create eight legs. Take a break from your classic white for a freaky surprise instead. You can use a dotting tool or a striping brush to create uneven lines and achieve the dripping effect. This mystical, metallic manicure resembles a magic potion that could very well keep us in eternal youth forever. They're a perfect seasonal pick for Halloween—and lucky for us, they only require a toothpick, nail polish, and a few gemstones to bring them to life.

All you'll need is a black polish, a white polish and a nail art tool to create the curves. You can also upgrade the Yin and Yang look with a few sparkles. Apply an orange base coat before drawing two, evenly spaced vertical lines on each nail. After applying a black base coat, use a thin brush to create small, curved rectangles, with enough space between them to really bring the skeletal feel to life. Create a gradient effect using white and black polish for a haunting look. Apply white polish as a base, before reaching for a sponge to dab the black polish on in layers.

This super cute nail trend uses light pink as its base, giving it a softer, more enchanting vibe perfect for a Halloween party. Carefully paint an eye on each nail, using white for the eyeball and varying shades of pink for the iris. Candy corn striped nails are a delightfully sweet way to bring some Halloween fun to your manicure.

Pagan symbols find relevance here too, adding to the rich tapestry of our design. Alchemical symbols, inspired by Celtic knots, twirl and twist, their meanings deep and fascinating. Ensure your creations stay vibrant and intact throughout the spooky season. Special effect polishes add the finishing touch, creating a bubbling potion effect that’s truly captivating.

This trend-aware concept incorporates tombstone textures and eerie epitaphs, painting a haunting picture right on your fingertips. The color choices in this design are crucial, with oranges and blacks emphasizing the skull aesthetics. With these Daring Dark Forest Nails, we’re not just painting nails, we’re crafting an immersive Halloween experience.

Texture is the surface quality of an object or image, whether it's perceived as smooth, rough, soft, or hard. It can be both tactile, something you can physically touch, or visual, an illusion created through artistic techniques. Incorporating texture into a design adds richness and complexity, making it more visually engaging and inviting. Designers can use texture to evoke specific feelings or themes, such as using a rough texture for a rustic, earthy vibe or a smooth texture for a modern, sleek look. The Full House House: Everything You Need to Know About the Victorian Dwelling From the Iconic Show

the house on full house

She stepped back into the acting world in late 2021 and starred in a January 2023 TV film for Great American Family network. Fuller House used the same set, which became a home for DJ and her three boys, as well as Kimmy Gibbler and her family. With Netflix’s spinoff series, the cast returned to the Tanner home, where DJ made new memories and even got engaged. It’s only a matter of time before the character is finally married to Steve, thanks to the second half of season 5 coming in June 2020 to the streaming platform.

Is the Full House house for sale?

Full House had a such a great run, but the show's final episode just didn't feel like it lived up to the rest of the series, which is really only something an adult would notice. In the episode "Arrest Ye Merry Gentlemen" from Season 8, Michelle and Uncle Jesse go out on an adventure to return the gift Michelle bought for Danny because she was upset her dad wouldn't like what she got him. It could have been a super sweet episode, but instead the owner of the shop refuses to exchange the gift and literally locks them in the store to wait for the police to arrive when Jesse demands he accept the returm. Especially when she was just trying to get a nice gift for her father!

Jodie Sweetin as Stephanie Tanner

In 2018, he married longtime love Caitlin McHugh; together, they have one son named Billy. Stamos hasn't stopped since Full House, nabbing a number of films and TV shows, most notably in ER, on which he starred for four years. He had featured spots in Glee, Scream Queens, Grandfathered and You, and starred on Big Shot from 2021 to 2022. The actor also authored his first memoir, If You Would Have Told Me, which will be released in October 2023. The kids called him Uncle Jesse, played by John Stamos, which is his best-known role to date, spanning eight years.

Life Without Light: Creatures in the Dark With Sarah McAnulty

But the 3,125-square-foot Victorian featured on Full House is actually set in the trendy Pacific Heights neighborhood, roughly one mile away from Alamo Square, where the Painted Ladies are located. And how many politicians have met a photo op they didn’t want to seize for a messaging moment? Few things on Full House were as charming or adorable as the bond between Michelle and Uncle Jesse.

‘Fuller House’ Gets Renewed for Season 2; Jodie Sweetin Gets Tapped for ‘Dancing With the Stars’

The house you can see from the street is the residence used as a model for the house, which was made on a studio set. These 7 houses are set on what is referred to as Postcard Row and teh Seven Sisters. If you’d like to visit 1709 Broderick Street and snap a picture of her no-longer red front door (from a respectful distance, of course),  there are several options. The real-life location of the Full House address is 1709 Broderick Street.

The doors were even red like the ’80s version for a while, as you can see in this photo Franklin posted on Instagram. Instead, he put $2 million into a massive renovation of the house to turn it into a “modern, high-tech Victorian,” as Compass agent Cindy Ambuehl described it. One of the reasons to consider walking is that they don't allow buses or other tour companies to drive past the house, so it's not that easy to get there unless you take an Uber or rent a car. Here you see the members of the household driving across the Golden Gate Bridge, then posing at various San Francisco landmarks, before ending on a shot of them picnicking in a park across from some pastel-colored hillside homes. Neighbors do tend to get upset with those who don’t remember that private individuals live in the surrounding homes. Part of this lineup of shows included Full House, a sitcom described online as a “G-rated dysfunctional family”.

the house on full house

Many folks believe the characters of Full House lived in one of the Painted Ladies, but they were merely the backdrop for the credits. One of the creators of Full House recently purchased and renovated the home, listing it for sale with one of the most prestigious real estate firms in California. In some versions of the credits, a camera shot pulls out from a red door and a large home. This is where the Tanner’s live, at the made-up address of 1822 Gerard.

This private residence was the template for one of the most beloved television homes of all time.

In this case, we discovered a "For Sale By Owner" listing was illegitimate after it was posted, and have since taken it down. After the property was purchase by Jeff, numerous walls have been knocked down or moved. As you can see the narrow hallway has now gone, with the front door leading onto a spacious, open, living room. The front doors, which were green/gray at the time, lead on to a narrow hallway and a staircase. The Tanner living room, a large open set like many other shows during this period, such as Married With Children. The kitchen in Full House, this was actually just a set in Los Angeles.

Bob Saget’s Legacy, From ‘Full House’ to His Work Fighting Scleroderma

The loss of a beloved teddy bear prompts fond recollections of the girls' mother. D.J.'s favorite cousin comes for a visit, but ends up spending most of his time with Danny. A widowed sportscaster enlists the help of his party-boy brother-in-law and stand-up comic best friend to raise his three daughters in their San Francisco home. Married to Kelly Rizzo in 2018, Saget had three adult daughters with ex-wife Sherri Kramer. The actor was found dead in an Orlando hotel room on Jan. 9, 2022, after doing a stand-up show outside of Jacksonville, Florida.

In the season four episode "Fuller House", it becomes Jesse's studio. In the season five episode "Oh Where, Oh Where Has My Little Girl Gone?", it is remodeled, complete with a red light, which, if illuminated, means that recording is in session and the room can't be entered until the light is off. Seen in only a few episodes, Stephanie once tried making her bedroom in here, and D.J. And Stephanie accidentally dropped Danny's wedding ring into the sink. It is right next to the girls' room and is exactly across from Michelle's (later D.J.'s) room. In the episode "The Hole-in-the-Wall Gang" (season 4), it becomes Joey's room.

As a kid, you might have just brushed off all those lessons in favor of noticing the humor more, but, as an adult, you can't help but notice that the show's messages were super powerful. The fact that this entire family was upended by the death of their matriarch and that the show is somehow a sitcom is kind of unbelievable as an adult. When you're a kid or even a teenager who watches Full House, it can be easy to forget that the show is all about a family who lost their mother because of all the goofy humor going on. But really, Full House is pretty depressing, especially considering the fact that the youngest Tanner wasn't even a year old when she lost her mom.

As Full House was such a successful series, with the Olsen twins making $80,000 per episode during the final season, according to The Washington Post, it's interesting to look back at the series finale as an adult. The series actually ended over a two-part episode centering on Michelle getting amnesia after falling off her horse. The entire family has to help her put the pieces of her life back into place, and things are kind of dark for a while.

Joey's father is invited to watch him perform in Wayne Newton's Las Vegas show. Joey and Jesse host a children's programming, but end up breaking Stephanie's nose in the process. The girls fall in love with a stray dog, unaware that the pup is pregnant.

Hello Giggles theorizes that people feel so connected to and nostalgic about "Full House" because it was such a groundbreaking show at the time. Peppered into all the cheesy catchphrases and wholesome family moments was the tough subject matter and family dynamics more complex than had been previously represented in sitcoms. According to an article for MeTV, Bob Saget called the Full House home architecturally impossible.

The family-favorite sitcom “Full House” hit airwaves back in 1987 with this shot of the iconic three-story home where the Tanner clan lived. It became such a huge tourist attraction in the years since that the former owners painted it a dark purple. When that failed to throw fans off the trail, they sold it in 2016. Studios in Los Angeles, the exterior shots of the Full House house were shot in San Francisco, California. When watching the iconic opening credits of the show, one might think the Tanner family lived in one of the Painted Ladies (or Postcard Row) on Steiner Street. In reality, the Tanners lived about a mile north of Alamo Square Park, at 1709 Broderick Street in Lower Pacific Heights, an affluent neighborhood rich in history, architecture, and culture.

For the sake of continuity, authenticity, and loyalty to the original, the same house on Broderick Street was used in the opening credits of the Netflix reboot Fuller House. The sequel series featured most of the original cast, including Bob Saget, who reprised the role of Danny Tanner. The Olsen twins were sadly the only characters not to return in the new series. Full House is definitely a family-oriented show, and, for the most part, it's pretty family-friendly. Of course, there are moments of adult humor that no child would ever notice but that parents watching along with their kids would appreciate.

And she made Full House fans the happiest in 2016 when she, Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber rebooted their series with the Netflix show Fuller House, following their characters into adulthood (and featuring cameos from most of the OGs). Just one year after Full House ended, Cameron became Cameron Bure when she married hockey pro Vareli Bure. She appeared in a few TV movies as well as an episode of Boy Meets World, and then took a few years off from acting to focus on her family (she has three grown children). Now that I know I was in the wrong spot I will be sure to make it to the correct house the next time I’m in San Francisco. If you want to visit the house that was used for the exterior shots of the Tanner family home you will need to go to 1709 Broderick Street. Did you know that Jeff Franklin, the creator of Full and Fuller House, purchased the house?

‘Full House’ & ‘Desperate Housewives’ Fans React to Lori Loughlin, Felicity Huffman Indictment

I hope that by sharing my adventures I am able to help you discover new and exciting places in LA. Jodie Sweetin played Stephanie Tanner aka the less-than-memorable middle child with problems whom I love for nothing more than her “HOW RUDE” catch-phrase. The homely, goofy character of Uncle Joey was played by Dave Coulier — aka the same man that makes us all wonder what on God’s green earth he could possibly have goin’ on downstairs to cause Alanis Morisette to have a nervous breakdown. In the first half of season 1, the living room alcove functioned as Joey's "room". When I'm not writing or sleeping, you can probably find me eating spoonfuls of vanilla soft serve or crying about the latest episode of RuPaul's Drag Race.

The Full House House: Everything You Need to Know About the Victorian Dwelling From the Iconic Show

However, there was one episode that was seriously disturbing for more than one reason. Loughlin first entered the series at the beginning of Season 2 when Danny started a new job co-hosting the fictional show Wake Up San Francisco alongside Rebecca. As the first significant adult female character on Full House, Rebecca was career-oriented, sharp, and intelligent.

Candace Cameron Bure as D.J. Tanner

Now, if you were to watch Full House as an adult, there would be more than a few things that would make you shake your head and roll your eyes. Until the series started, it was D.J.'s room.In seasons 1–4, it is D.J. In the season five episode, "Oh Where, Oh Where Has My Little Girl Gone?", it becomes Stephanie and Michelle's room. It is exactly across from Jesse's/Joey's room and is right next to the bathroom.

After marrying Jesse, they have twins Nicky and Alex, who make their debut in season five. As babies, the children were played by Daniel and Kevin Renteria, and in season six, the roles of the twins were succeeded by Blake and Dylan Tuomy-Wilhoit. The last main character added was Steve Hale, who was D.J.'s boyfriend in seasons six and seven.

A friend of mine visited the house recently and said that the hands and feet prints are not on display outside of the house. When I went to San Francisco back in 2009 I had to stop by the Tanner house used on Full House. Remember how they used to show the houses, known as the painted ladies, in the opening credits of the show? Well silly me, I thought that one of those houses was the Tanner house even though none of them looked like it. So I went to Alamo Square and took a picture thinking I was in the right spot.

The series was created by Jeff Franklin and executive produced by Franklin, along with Thomas L. Miller and Robert L. Boyett. The series was produced by Jeff Franklin Productions and Miller-Boyett Productions, in association with Lorimar-Telepictures (1987–1988), Lorimar Television (1988–1993), and then by Warner Bros. Television (1993–1995) after Lorimar was folded into Warner Bros.'s existing television production division. John Stamos's character was originally named Jesse Cochran; Stamos reportedly wanted his character to better reflect his Greek heritage, so producers decided to change the character's surname to Katsopolis (beginning with season two). Rare opportunity to own an 1883 Charles Hinkel Lewis home that has been impeccably renovated to please even the most discerning tastes, with a touch of iconic flair.

It also includes a stairway leading upstairs and downstairs, a back door leading to the porch, and a small laundry area for the washer and dryer. There are two entrances to the kitchen, the aforementioned entrance from the living room, and the other from the other side of the living room where the laundry area must be passed first. The main room of the house, where the bulk of the action takes place, includes a living area, alcove, fireplace, television, a front door, and a staircase leading upstairs.

Victorian beauty to modern marvel

If you’re curious who lives in the Full House house, you may be shocked…This historical landmark of sorts was actually purchased by the show’s creator, Jeff Franklin, in 2016 for $4 million. He said he’s thought about renting it out but purchased it because he was so sentimental over it. This is Michelle's room until the season five episode "Oh Where, Oh Where Has My Little Girl Gone?", where Michelle moves across the hall and D.J. Located next to the living room, it is where the family prepares meals and includes a dining area where they eat together.

Of course, it ends as happy as ever, but it didn't really feel like much of an ending for a series. Sadly, Papouli dies in his sleep while visiting San Francisco, and poor Jesse, who is already grieving the loss of his grandfather, has to inform little Michelle that Papouli is no longer alive. It's heartbreaking to see Michelle, who was so young at the time, have to grieve yet another loss in her life. At that point, Full House had seriously taken things way too far and had veered way off track from the funny yet heartwarming show it was supposed to be. As a kid watching Full House, Papouli's death might not have even registered much, but, as an adult, it's clear that it was way too intense for a family show. As is the case with most television movies and houses, only the exterior of the real home was ever featured in "Full House," with all the scenes featuring the inside of the Tanner House being filmed at a sound stage instead.

This has naturally turned into heaps of fans swarming the San Francisco house, which didn’t sit quite well with Franklin’s neighbors, as the influx of fans disturbed the peace of the affluent, otherwise quiet community. Originally built in 1883, the house used on the show is a perfect example of a San Francisco family home — though it’s admittedly on the pricier side. Saget’s character, with his caring, gentle nature and bottomless sac of good advice stood as an adoptive father figure to ’90s kids all around the world, myself included. Now, the four-bedroom, three-bathroom house is for sale for $5.5 million. And in 2016, "Full House" creator and former executive producer Jeff Franklin paid $4 million for the home and intended to turn it into a replica of the TV show set and even allow fans to visit and walk through the place. After a visit to the Full House house, there’s no other option but to take a drive across the Golden Gate Bridge while singing along to Full House theme song, “Everywhere You Look” by Jesse Frederick. The Victorian home, built by famed architect Charles Lewis Hinkel, is distinctly San Franciscan, with intricate moldings, bay windows, a brick stoop, and a red front door. You can visit the home, as well as Hinkel’s personal residence, a transitional Second French Empire home at 280 Divisadero Street in the Lower Haight neighborhood. As mentioned earlier, the owners of the property got tired of fans turning up outside to take photos.

Really, Rebecca's character was a powerful and impressive woman, which just showed how progressive Full House was for its time. As Aunt Becky got closer to Full House's main characters, it was clear that she was a force to be reckoned with. Only an adult would notice just how empowering Aunt Becky was on Full House. In fact, before Danny even turns 30, his oldest daughter, DJ, is starting fifth grade, which means she would be about 10 years old. So, with a little math, Danny must have had his first child at just 20 years old. While that's not entirely unbelievable, it is pretty unbelievable that Danny got married, had three kids, somehow started a successful career, bought a house, and became a widower all before turning 30.

Although the series was set in San Francisco, the sitcom itself was taped at the Warner Bros. Outside of certain excerpts in the opening title sequences, including Alamo Square Park's Painted Ladies, the only episode to have actually been taped in San Francisco was the first episode of season eight, "Comet's Excellent Adventure". There were also a few episodes which were filmed on-location elsewhere, most notably Hawaii in the season three premiere "Tanner's Island", and at Walt Disney World for the two-part sixth-season finale "The House Meets the Mouse". "Full House" creator and former executive producer Jeff Franklin bought the home in 2016 for $4 million with the intention of turning it into a replica of the set used on the sitcom, per Insider.

Civil War's End: The Battle of Appomattox Court House

battle of appomattox court house

Replica tools and firearms were on display, including a replica cannon loaded with loud blanks someone eventually fired in the only act of violence in the afternoon. “There was no fighting here, so we call it a place of peace, a place where people came together,” said Phyllis Hansen. She’s a board member of the nonprofit Campo de Cahuenga Historical Memorial Assn., and has volunteered since 2006 during their open houses, which are supposed to happen every first and third Saturday of the month.

Opposing forces

Lee briefly moved northward to Cumberland Church before retreating to the west. While at Cumberland Church he received a letter from Grant demanding his surrender. Despite mounting desertions and dwindling supplies, Lee refused Grant’s terms.

Grant was flattered that Lee remembered him from that time, as he was much younger than Lee and more junior in rank. The surrender of Lee’s Army of Northern Virginia sets the stage for the conclusion of the Civil War. Through the lenient terms, Confederate troops are paroled and allowed to return to their homes while Union soldiers are ordered to refrain from overt celebration or taunting. These measures serve as a blueprint for the surrender of the remaining Confederate forces throughout the South. Rather than destroy his army and sacrifice the lives of his soldiers to no purpose, Lee decided to surrender the Army of Northern Virginia. Three days later, a formal ceremony marked the disbanding of Lee's army and the parole of his men, ending the war in Virginia.

His house was on the outskirts of the battlefield, and was used as Gen. P.G.T. Beauregard’s headquarters. After the battle, McLean began selling sugar to the Confederate Army, and moved to Appomattox Court House where he believed he would be able to avoid the fighting and the Union occupation, which impeded his work. After the war, McLean would famously observe that "The war began in my front yard and ended in my front parlor."

The Battle of Appomattox Court House was the climax of a campaign that began eleven days earlier at the Battle of Lewis’ Farm. Confederate desertions were mounting daily, and by April 8 the Rebels were almost completely surrounded. Nonetheless, early on the morning of April 9, Confederate troops led by Major General John B. Gordon mounted a last-ditch offensive that was initially successful.

Secretary of War Henry Stimson warned that American cities should be prepared to accept “occasional blows” from enemy forces. It was the action on April 8, 1865 (the Battle of Appomattox Station), that determined the surrender would take place on April 9th in the village of Appomattox Court House. The advantage of position gained by the action on April 8, gave the Federals control of the strategic ground necessary to force Lee’s surrender. The New Yorkers retreated back along the stage road, gathering prisoners and shooting mules as they went, thus concluding the engagements on April 8. General Lee's final campaign began on March 25, 1865, with a Confederate attack on Fort Stedman, near Petersburg. General Grant’s forces counterattacked a week later on April 1 at Five Forks, forcing Lee to abandon Richmond and Petersburg the following day. The Confederate Army’s retreat moved southwest along the Richmond & Danville Railroad.

Thereafter, both armies were entrenched, and a stalemate ensued for the next ten months. Despite being well-entrenched, the Confederate situation grew progressively worse as their supplies dwindled. By the spring of 1865, Lee knew that when the weather allowed, his army must escape the Union stranglehold or face starvation. After Lee left the McLean House on April 9, some of the Union officers present promptly bought much of the furniture in McLean’s parlor.

These trains are loaded with supplies—clothes, blankets, equipment, ordnance, medical supplies, and most importantly—food. After moving along the wagon road beside the railroad, Custer’s men approach Appomattox Station from the southeast. The Station consisted of only a few houses with a squad of Confederate cavalry guarding the trains.

Three miles to the northeast, at the former county seat, known as Appomattox Court House, Gen. Robert E. Lee surrendered to Gen. Ulysses S. Grant, thus effectively ending the Civil War. The final battle of the Civil War took place at Palmito Ranch in Texas on May 11–12. The last large Confederate military force was surrendered on June 2 by Lt. Gen. Edmund Kirby Smith in Galveston, Texas. Yet Brig. Gen. Stand Watie, the first Native American to serve as a Confederate general, kept his troops in the field for nearly a month after Smith gave up the Trans-Mississippi Army. On June 23, Watie finally acknowledged defeat and surrendered his unit of Confederate Cherokee, Creek, Seminole and Osage troops at Doaksville, near Fort Towson (now Oklahoma), becoming the last Confederate general to give up his command. Lee, having abandoned the Confederate capital of Richmond, Virginia, after the nine-and-a-half-month Siege of Petersburg and Richmond, retreated west, hoping to join his army with Confederate forces, the Army of Tennessee in North Carolina.

At the surrender ceremonies, about 28,000 Confederate soldiers passed by and stacked their arms.[28] General Longstreet's account was 28,356 officers and men were “surrendered and paroled”.[29] The Appomattox Roster lists approximately 26,300 men who surrendered. This reference does not include the 7,700 who were captured at Sailor's Creek three days earlier, who were treated as prisoners of war. The Battle of Appomattox Station commenced shortly after 4 pm and lasted until dusk with varying intensity, although more fighting continued in the direction of Appomattox Court House until probably 9 pm. The success of Custer’s troopers on the evening of April 8, dispersing and capturing Walker’s artillery and securing the Richmond-Lynchburg Stage Road were vital—the Federals now held the high ground west of Appomattox Court House, squarely across Lee’s line of march.

Grant had suggested in his correspondence that Lee choose the meeting place. This event triggered a series of subsequent surrenders across the South, in North Carolina, Alabama and finally Shreveport, Louisiana, for the Trans-Mississippi Theater in the West by June, signaling the end of the four-year-long war. While it’s likely that the Battle of Los Angeles was only a mirage, it was still a chilling reminder of the vulnerability that many Americans felt at the beginning of World War II. The Japanese would later hatch several schemes to attack the American mainland—including launching over 9,000 explosives-laden “fire balloons”—yet none of them ever produced the level of mass hysteria that accompanied the phantom shootout over Los Angeles. Still, the most logical explanation for the firefight is that trigger-happy servicemen and rudimentary radar systems combined to produce a false alarm. In 1983, the Office of Air Force History outlined the events of the L.A.

Custer’s men made two or three probing assaults, none very anxious to get too close the walls of iron being thrown at them by the discharges of canister. Meanwhile, the Confederate batteries that were not engaged did their best to escape west towards Lynchburg or north towards Oakville. Appomattox Court House, in the American Civil War, site in Virginia of the surrender of the Confederate forces to those of the North on April 9, 1865. After an engagement with Federal cavalry, the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia was surrounded at Appomattox, seat of Appomattox county, Virginia, 25 miles east of Lynchburg.

By the time a final “all-clear” order was given later that morning, Los Angeles’ artillery batteries had pumped over 1,400 rounds of anti-aircraft ammunition into the sky. The day after the oil field raid, paranoia and itchy trigger fingers combined to produce one of the most unusual home front incidents of the war. It began on the evening of February 24, 1942, when naval intelligence instructed units on the California coast to steel themselves for a potential Japanese attack. After some brief clashes the Confederate cavalry which found itself outside the tightening noose, headed for Lynchburg.

The phenomenon was not limited to the upper echelons – soldiers of all ranks from both armies tried to take a piece of their experience home with them. Northerners bought Confederate dollars from the Rebels, and soldiers tore up their own regimental flags as souvenirs. After Lee's surrender, the Army of Tennessee remained in the field for over two weeks, until Johnston finally surrendered the army and numerous smaller garrisons to Maj. Gen. William T. Sherman on April 26. Johnston's surrender was the largest of the war, totaling almost 90,000 men. In summer 1861, Wilmer McLean and his family lived in Manassas, Virginia.

He ordered Major General John B. Gordon’s 2nd Corps of the Army of Northern Virginia to attack Major General Philip Sheridan’s Cavalry early in the morning. Lee hoped to break through the Federal force to his front and continue his march west. Sheridan deployed his cavalry along the ridge that Custer had secured the day before. Gordon’s troops successfully penetrated the Federal cavalry and seized the ridge. To his dismay, however, Gordon discovered that on the other side of the ridge he faced the entire Union 5th and 24th Army corps formed for battle. Rooney Lee’s men stayed with the infantry wheel while Rosser and Munford pressed forward (west) hoping to get on the Federal flank and gain the Stage Road in their rear.

In 1869, the house where Lee surrendered to Grant was sold at public auction after owner Wilmer McLean defaulted on his loan repayments. In the ensuing years, the house had a series of owners before it was reconstructed and opened to the public by the National Park Service in 1949. Lee and Grant, both of whom held the highest rank in their respective armies, had known each other slightly during the Mexican-American War ( ) and began their dialogue by exchanging awkward personal inquiries. Characteristically, Grant had arrived in his mud-splattered field uniform while Lee had turned out in full dress attire, complete with sash and sword. With no remaining options, Lee sent a message to General Ulysses Grant announcing his willingness to surrender the Army of Northern Virginia.

On the Richmond-Lynchburg Stage Road, which passes in front of the court house, the surrendering Confederate soldiers on April 12 deposited their cannon, rifles, flags, and accoutrements in a ceremony observed by 5,000 Union soldiers who lined the road. Many tears were shed as Confederate soldiers said goodbye to each other to travel back to their farms and homes. Including the reconstructed court house, there are about 10 buildings (extant or reconstructed) that were in the village at the time of the surrender and are an integral part of the park. The tavern, which was built in 1819, is the oldest structure in the village. They include the locations of Lee’s and Grant’s headquarters, which are at the east and west sides of the park, respectively.

A small foray west of the village was made by 25 men of the 4th and 14th North Carolina Infantry as a delaying action, while the remainder of Gordon’s Corps retreated and reformed on the east side of the shallow Appomattox River. Although not the end of the war, the surrender of Lee’s Army of Northern Virginia set the stage for its conclusion. Through the lenient terms, Confederate troops were paroled and allowed to return to their homes while Union soldiers were ordered to refrain from overt celebration or taunting. These measures served as a blueprint for the surrender of the remaining Confederate forces throughout the South. Although a formal peace treaty was never signed by the combatants, the submission of the Confederate armies ended the war and began the long and difficult road toward reunification. Since the nineteenth century, a more concerted effort has been made to preserve the history of Appomattox Court House for everyone to experience.

The Confederate cavalry initially held their own and even succeeded in driving the Union horsemen from their position atop a nearby ridge. However, Gordon saw thousands of Union troops quickly approaching and sent word to Lee that his position was hopeless unless the infantry supported them. Lee’s infantry, however, was engaged with Grant’s Army of the James, which had approached the Confederates from the west under cover of night. Faced with no route of escape to Lynchburg, Lee agreed to negotiate terms of surrender. When Lee departed from Amelia Court House, he saw that Grant’s army was marching parallel to his movements west along the Appomattox River. Lee determined that he would be unable to proceed southwest and into North Carolina as planned.

As for casualties from this fight, there are no Confederate reports, so the exact total will never be know—perhaps 100 men killed and wounded in some manner, but nearly 1,000 Confederate soldiers captured, including Brigadier General Young Moody, and about 100 wagons. Federal casualties totaled less than 50, but Union surgeons commented that they “had never treated so many extreme cases in so short a fight. The wounds were chiefly made by artillery, and were serious; many patients being badly mangled." Some of the discharges of canister found their mark, taking down horses and men, one of them being a future Governor of Vermont, Charles J. Bell, with an iron ball lodged in the back of his hand. In the swirl of fighting, the color bearer of the Washington Artillery of New Orleans, William Davis, “A splendid soldier,” was killed staining the flag with his life blood. The flag was captured by Barney Sheilds of the 2nd West Virginia Cavalry.

Lee asked for the terms of surrender, and Grant hurriedly wrote them out. Generously, all officers and men were to be pardoned, and they would be sent home with their private property–most important to the men were the horses, which could be used for a late spring planting. Officers would keep their side arms, and Lee’s starving men would be given Union rations.

Gordon formed his lines at the western edge of the village with the divisions of General Clement Evans on the left, General James Walker in the center, General Bryan Grimes on the right and General William Wallace’s division was in a second line. At the end of Tibbs lane was General Fitz Lee with the cavalry divisions of Generals Rooney Lee, Tom Rosser and Tom Munford. The infantry and cavalry were supported by General Armistead Long’s artillery. That night a Federal cavalry brigade under Brevet Brigadier General Charles Smith from General George Crook’s division occupied the ridge ¾ of a mile west of Appomattox Court House—building breast works of dirt and fence rails along the Oakville Road.

Heavily outnumbered by the enemy and low on supplies, Lee was in dire trouble. Nevertheless, he led a series of grueling night marches, hoping to reach supply trains in Farmville, Virginia, and eventually join Maj. Gen. Joseph E. Johnston’s army in North Carolina. On the morning of April 9, Lee ordered his cavalry, under the command of Gen. John B. Gordon, to attack Sheridan’s cavalry, which had blocked the Richmond-Lynchburg Stage Road. Lee commanded an army of nearly 27,000 soldiers, which paled in comparison to Grant’s force of some 63,000 troops, but he still intended to force his way through Union lines.
